San Juan Capistrano

The City of San Juan Capistrano is located in the center of Southern California, midway between Los Angeles and San Diego and the southern most city of Orange County.

 

It is home to the widest variety of homes in Orange County, with upscale and gated communities, working ranches in its foothills, and homes built prior to 1900 in its central district dating back to adobes from the 18th century.A fully developed city, San Juan Capistrano features a variety of land uses providing recreation, housing, jobs, shopping and services. Nearly 40% of the city is open space and parkland, and the city prides itself on effectively maintaining its naturally spacious setting by acquiring land to preserve its defining ridgelines, hillsides and trails. This rural farming and ranching community has become a cultural center, filled with historic sites, and is home to the Swallows of Capistrano.One of the oldest residential streets in California, which includes adobes and European structures, is Los Rios Street. Los Rios is a favorite spot for locals and visitors to shop, dine and visit galleries, helping maintain San Clemente’s small town charm and preserve the city's rich history.

 

Also located in San Juan Capistrano is the Spanish built Mission San Juan Capistrano, which was constructed in 1776 and is home to the oldest standing building in California.

 

In the foothills of San Juan Capistrano the tradition of Equestrian properties is often sought after with traditional homes to grand estate ranches sprinkled through the hills providing access to the Ortega Equestrian Center and the Rancho Mission Viejo Riding Park
